Dé-coll/age: the Art of WOLF VOSTELL

14.04.2012 - 29.07.2012
Opening: 14.04.2012, 17.00
Location: collage museum

Wolf Vostell is one of the more relevant figures in Art History in the view of the fact that he introduced the dé-coll/age technique and developed the very first happenings taking place in Europe. Vostell is also considered as one of the pioneers of video art and as a founder member of the Fluxus movement. In the same way, Vostell is also well-known because of his fluxus concerts and operas, his environment-sculptures. Embedding objects in concrete is also characteristic of his work.

As for the dé-coll/ages mentioned above, they were first expressed through the process of tearing down posters that had been previously stuck to Paris walls. Tore down surfaces with faded colours were displayed together with untouched new advertisements in a process of constant superposition and destruction.

The exhibition is mainly focused on those Wolf Vostell´s dé-coll/ages, objectpaintings, environments or videos that allow us to perceive his constrictivedestructive relationship toward everyday objects; however it also aims to recreate Vostell´s process of creation and to analyze the way he documented his actions, happenings or fluxus-concerts.

Exhibition organized in collaboration with Museo Vostell Malpartida
