11.00 AM Coffee/tea Welcome by Sculpture Network and the Verbeke Foundation. Founder Geert Verbeke (member) collected collages and assemblages and now hosts installations of living or organic materials (Eco and Bio art).
11.30 AM Individual visit on the current in- and outdoor exhibition Green Summer.
13.00 PM Lunch. Showcase documentation of sculpturenetwork-members and artists of the exhibition.
13.45 PM Smaller groups will interview participating artists: What do you make? How? Why do you make this today? How does this relate to your other work?

15.30 PM Introduction on Bio Art by Prof. Dr. Ing. Rob Zwijnenberg, philosopher, engineer and professor in art-history at Leiden University, connected to the Arts and Genomics Centre. www.artsgenomics.org
16.15 PM Panel discussion with Rob Zwijnenberg, curators Geert Verbeke and Simon Delobel, artists Jef Faes, Martin uit den Bogaard and the public, moderated by Dutch art-critic Anne Berk (member).
What is Eco-art? Why is Eco-art emerging now? May art have a message? If so, how to get the message across? How do art and science relate?

SATURDAY, 4th SEPTEMBER: The monument yesterday and today
10.00 AM: Guided tour in Antwerp-city along the historical monuments.
Visit to the restoration of the central fountain Brabo. What was the role of the monument in the past?
11.30 AM Travel from Antwerp centre to Middelheimmuseum
12.00 AM: Coffee/tea Welcome by Sculpture Network and introduction by Menno Meeuwis, director of the Middelheimmuseum, on the 60 year old sculpture-park and the current exhibition New Monuments. Is the ‘eternal’ monument still relevant? How do sculptors relate to tradition?
12.30 PM Lunch. Showcase documentation of sculpturenetwork-members and artists of the exhibition.
13.45 PM Visit to the exhibition New Monuments with guides. Some participating artists will be present to explain their work.
14.45 PM Drinks
15.00 PM Lecture
15.45 PM Participants discuss their favourite contemporary monuments in small groups. Out of this we make a Top 10
16.45 PM Reception with participants of the meeting and sculpture lovers from Antwerp.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION:
You can book one or two days.
Participation fee Friday: 45 euro for entrance, tours, drinks, lunch, dinner (let us know if you are a vegetarian).
Participation fee Saturday: 5 euro (lunch and drinks at your own expenses)
Deadline of registration is the 22nd of August.
