mEATing exhibition in Tilburg
December 17th, 2009 – January 10th, 2010
The Verbeke Foundation supports mEATing, an exhibition organised by Dutch artist-curator Tineke Schuurmans.
MEATing is an art exhibition and therefore a stage for dialogue. The participating artists shape the subject of 'meat' in various ways, from corporality to consumption. It is much rather an exhibiton wanting to spark, to search boundaries and to touch visitors, to raise questions with no unambiguous answers, than it is an exhibition to enjoy sit back in an easy chair. It is an exhibition which asks for an open approach.
For the final exhibition day, Sunday January 10th, 2010, it was chosen to lecture on the theme of meat proceeding from various disciplines; Flesh will be called into being through philosophy, art, history, ethics and religion.

Discover BRUGGENHOOFD CHABOT at the Verbeke Foundation
On Friday October 23rd, Paul Segers, Josef Blersch and Mander Liefting constructed the work of Bruggenhoofd Chabot 2009 at the Verbeke Foundation.
The artists explain:
The combination of failing success, the underlying pressure of Eindhoven as candidate 'Design capitol of the Universe' and a healthy dose of Brabant expansion drift has driven the Nieuw Brabants Front and the Snodevormgevers to plan a frontal attack on the Rotterdam Chabot museum. Faithful to the peasant wisdom that “all good things fall from the sky in broad daylight”, we will assume power over the Witte de With street in a way Somalian pirates could hardly better. The landing craft – to the occasion specially produced at the centre of Eindhoven – has been built entirely according to the guidelines of the Brabant space programme, and therefore is a masterly example of hightech as one may expect of a prospective design capitol.

A spectrum of projects on plastic art and stage art directly exposes visitors to life sciences. The festival displays art which gives us a unique view on the fashion 21th century science influences on human life. With it, the projects invite us to contribute to a public debate.
