Grande Vaso
1999
Collection of the Verbeke Foundation

Since 1999 the giant vase, designed by the architect Andrea Branzi, was standing  in the courtyard of the Design Museum in Ghent. The vase would be destroyed, because the museum now had other priorities and the renovation would be too expensive. Geert Verbeke was reading the news in the newspaper and immediately undertook action to save the work. Less than two weeks later the vase was lifted over the roofs of the museum with a mobile crane and than transported to the Verbeke Foundation in Kemzeke. It has now been given a place as a prominent beacon along the Expressway/E34.
